I wonder if the English channels of TVB and ATV have checked their ratings during the World Cup. Are the advertisers aware of how few people may be watching? With some games on at 3am, I cannot stay up. A random survey of my friends has indicated the same thing. I did get up to watch the England v Romania game (3am), but noticed out of my flat window only two other lights, in all the hundreds of surrounding flats. It is a terrific theory to show live games, but not much point if no one is watching. To show the highlights at 8.30am is also useless, as everyone is on their way to work.
If TVB showed 'delayed live' coverage by, say, three hours so the games would start at 6am, I guarantee a massive increase in ratings.
