FIVE teenage students will fly Hongkong's colours in the gymnastic hall at the inaugural East Asian Games to be held in Shanghai next month. Leading the territory's challenge is versatile Wong Kim-fai, Hongkong's top all-round gymnast whose best individual routine is vaulting but who is also very strong on the parallel bars. The other two members of the men's gymnastic team are Lee Tak-ming and Lok Chung-yuen, while the women's squad comprise Wong Ka-li and Tang Fuk-yu. Lee's best apparatus is the pommel horse while Lok excels in floor exercise. Wong is equally good in vaulting and the floor exercise, and Tang performs strongly on the uneven bars. National coach Jim Wilson was quick to admit medals hopes for Hongkong are slim in Shanghai in the face of world gymnastic giants China, North Korea, Japan and South Korea. ''We will be competitive, but it would be unrealistic to expect us to win medals against athletes from world gymnastic superpowers,'' Wilson said.
