A judge yesterday questioned the sanity of a woman seeking an inheritance who has been pestering the courts for years with misguided applications.
Mui Po-chu, 42, asked the Court of Appeal to make her father pay her $537,000, claiming Moi Oak-wah was hiding an inheritance that was rightfully hers.
She also asked the judges to overturn a series of earlier rulings forcing her to pay legal costs for what Mr Justice Gerald Godfrey called her many 'misconceived proceedings'.
The judges rejected her requests.
Mr Justice Godfrey expressed concern for her mental health. 'Much of the material before me gives me cause for great concern as to whether she is a person capable of managing and administering her own affairs.' He noted that the Mental Health Ordinance allowed family members to request an inquiry to decide such matters.
Mr Justice Michael Hartmann's 'gentle' approach last year had not 'helped stop the court's time being taken up by misconceived proceedings'.
Mr Justice Hartmann had told Ms Mui she was fighting her battle in the wrong courts and that such action was doomed to failure.
