England coach Glenn Hoddle places great faith in Christian values but he is keen on some very human revenge when England meet Argentina at Saint-Etienne tonight.

In the entire history of the World Cup, there is one game that is justifiably famous and infamous all in the one breath.

The quarter-final match between England and Argentina in 1986 saw the notorious 'Hand of God' goal from Diego Maradona followed by his exquisite second goal.

That second goal was recently voted the best ever scored by a highly respected English football magazine and few would disagree. It was one of those great moments in sport when an entire stadium - and millions of television viewers - leaped to their feet as one.

The magical move actually started when Maradona went past Hoddle in the centre circle and England's current coach could only watch as the Argentinian magician beat half of his English teammates before scoring a goal that will stand for all time.

But it was the fisted 'goal' earlier that has infuriated England for so long and the weight of sporting and other history will be carried into this second round World Cup game tonight.
