At around 2.10pm on June 27, my friend and I went to Cafe on the First at the Excelsior.
We decided to opt for the buffet lunch, because the various dishes looked so appetising.
However, 15 minutes later a waiter came up to us and asked to pay the bill and told us that the buffet would end at 2.30pm. We were very surprised as we had just started our appetisers.
We then hurried to finish our meals, but restaurant staff were faster than us and they started removing the dishes, re-setting tables and sweeping the floor. Then 15 minutes later a waiter told us the tea buffet would start soon and our table was reserved. He asked us to move to the other side of the lobby if we wanted to stay.
We were very disappointed. If the buffet lunch was going to finish in 20 minutes why were we not told in advance? We each paid $206.80, hoping to have an enjoyable buffet lunch at a four-star hotel. Instead, we were made to feel unwelcome.
