I AM writing as Chairman of the Hongkong Amateur Roller Skating Association in response to recent correspondence in your newspaper.
I suggest that anyone really interested in promoting in-line skating (rollerblades) as a sport contact our association on 887-0296.
In-line skating as a sport comes under the world body, the Federation International de Roller Skating (FIRS), and the HKARSA has responsibility for Hongkong.
We organise courses in skating, coaching and judging, open competitions and fun days. We are generously funded by the Sports Development Board, the Urban Council and the Regional Council. As a National Sports Association we are able to book exclusive useof many Urban and Regional Council facilities.
We would be particularly pleased to hear from any groups of in-line or conventional skaters in any of the three disciplines of hockey, speed or artistic who would be prepared to form themselves into a club and join the association. We may then be able tohelp them.
