Hong Kong's famed excellence in the hospitality arena is being exported to Las Vegas. Two Regent International hotels open next year on the outskirts of the fastest-growing city in the United States. They will be the centrepiece of what is being hailed as 'one of the most luxurious golf and spa resorts' in the country. The US$270 million project, incorporating The Regent Las Vegas and The Regent Grand Spa, is under construction on a 21.8-hectare site, surrounded by five golf courses. They include the world-famous TPC Canyons. Scheduled to open next April, it will also boast a 40,000-square-foot spa designed to rank among the most luxurious and comprehensive health facilities in the United States. 'We are pleased that Regent International Hotels - which is known worldwide for its exceptional quality standards and detailed, attentive guest service - will be part of this new premier resort complex,' Brian McMullan, president of Seven Circle Resorts, which owns the resort, said. Curtis Nelson, president of Carlson Hospitality Worldwide, Regent's parent company, said: 'This showcase resort is destined to achieve world-class stature.' Paul Hanley, president of Regent International, said the development would provide 'a solid foundation on which we plan to build our ambitious global expansion programme'. Located a 25-minute drive from McCarran International Airport and the famous Las Vegas strip, the resort is on a plateau 305 metres above the city. Rooms and suites have panoramic views of the Red Rock Canyon national conservation area on one side, and the glittering lights of Las Vegas on the other. The two hotels will be linked to the resort's obligatory casino through a 'Lifestyle Centre' serving various world cuisines in indoor and outdoor restaurants. Regent Grand Spa features its own golfers' lounge and 8,000 sq ft putting green. 'Unlike the mega properties found on the Las Vegas strip, the resort is intentionally designed for the most discriminating traveller who wishes to enjoy a peaceful, resort atmosphere away from the crowds of the strip,' spokesman Kylie Perkin said. Of special appeal to golfers, the resort will control 75 per cent of the tee times at TPC Canyons and offer guests an exceptional golfing experience at the five surrounding courses. 'It will be possible to book tee times at the TPC Canyons, as well as at a number of the other courses, at the same time hotel reservations are made,' Ms Perkin said.
