American International Underwriters (AIU) achieved more than 10 per cent growth in its travel insurance business in the first six months of the year, according to deputy managing director Stephen Wong Man-fai. Mr Wong said the devaluation of regional currencies had boosted the mass travel market, meaning increased sales of travel insurance. He expects travel insurance to maintain this level of growth in the second half. AIU yesterday opened a Travel Insurance Services Centre next to the check-in counter of the Kowloon Station on the Airport Express Line, the first of its kind. 'It allows travellers to purchase travel insurance just prior to their departure from Hong Kong,' AIU managing director Ross Matthews said. 'The centre can also handle any other customer insurance services.'
