MTR chiefs were given an embarrassing taste of passengers' woes after staff members fell victim to the continuing rail glitches.
A lengthy delay on a Lantau-bound Tung Chung Line train made several senior staff late for an official function at Tsing Yi Station hosted by MTRC chairman Jack So Chak-kwong.
Commuters interchanging from the Tsuen Wan Line had to wait 30 minutes for a Tung Chung-bound train which ran into technical trouble after departing from Olympic Station.
One of those affected was MTRC deputy director of operations Roger Kynaston.
The embarrassing fault further upset the officers as there were no announcements apologising to passengers or warning of the severe delay, which also caused many journalists and guests to miss the 3.45pm function.
The incident came just hours after the breakdown of another Tung Chung train and an Airport Express train which delayed passengers heading for Chek Lap Kok.
