Third erotic outing a turn-off
This one gets the prize for most lurid title of the year. With its mix of sex, violence and politics, Raped by An Angel 3 - Sexual Fantasy of the Chief Executive all but guarantees some cheap, vulgar fun. Alas, there is more energy in the movie's moniker than in the sordid fantasies on screen.
This is part three of producer Wong Jing's prurient tales of beautiful women being set upon by handsome sex monsters, movies that pay lip service to the evils of rape while catering to the fantasies of a certain segment of the audience.
Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa need not worry. The film has nothing to do with him, but with a fictitious candidate for the office of the chief executive. It is a popular election in which the people of Hong Kong have the right to choose their leader, a political system that is as much a fantasy as anything else in the movie.
Describing the salient plot points in Law Kam-fai's script makes the story appear more tastelessly fun than the finished product warrants. The elements are certainly there for a 'campfest', but are sabotaged by Aman Cheung Mun's lacklustre direction and slow pacing. But the scenario has its moments.
The would-be chief executive is wealthy businessman Lee Chi-sun (Alex Fong Chung-sun), who is beginning to crack under the campaign pressure.
Whether giving a speech or taking the elevator, women appear naked to his eyes.
Lee, despite his oversized libido, is less than delighted by the situation and consults a psychiatrist.
