Since the local rave scene took off a few years ago, the biggest and most successful dance parties have been the ones that allow participants to dance all night to mixes by DJs with distinctly different styles.

But Hong Kong has always loved variety. Compilation compact discs top the IFPI charts more often than not.

Events organisers have hence always tried to incorporate contrasting elements at concerts and parties, with headbanging heavy metal bands alongside techno groups or Canto-pop singers.

And so to the Killer Loop Super Jam Live Band Dancing Party, where an even more bizarre variety of performers takes the stage at the Hong Kong International Trade and Exhibition Centre on July 18.

Heavy metal band Anodize, psychedelic rockers Big Mac, and former Tai Chi guitarist Joey Tang will be joined by Canto-pop singer Eason Chan Yik-shun, singer and producer Mark Lui Chung-tak, and Kenny Bee, vocalist of 1970s rock band Wynners. Also on the bill is dance/retro debut band Wave.

'It is the diversity that makes the party different from the rest,' said Fan Fan, administrative manager of Wave Music Works, one of the event organisers.
