The Airport Authority's statutory job is to provide, operate, develop and maintain Chek Lap Kok.

Chief executive Dr Hank Townsend implements and administers contracts and ensures 'efficient and effective execution' of all business, the authority yearbook says. He leads a team of eight executive officers, including corporate development director Clinton Leeks and planning and co-ordination director Elizabeth Bosher.
Electrical and mechanical expert Chern Heed is airport management director and civil engineer Douglas Oakervee is project director.
The team is rounded out by human resources director Sophia Kao Ching-chi, finance and commercial director Raymond Lai Wing-cheung and legal director Josiah Kwok Chin-lai.
