Gas blast wrecks home

A WOMAN and her brother-in-law sustained burns to their bodies in a dramatic gas explosion that rocked their two-storey house in Pat Heung last night.

The blast badly damaged the living room, blew off the front door, broke partition walls and shattered most windows.

Senior fire officer Fung Kwok-hai from Pat Heung Fire Station said the woman triggered the explosion when she checked the stove for a leak.

'We believe the gas tube has been used for more than five years,' he said. Minor natural damage was found on the tube.

Leung Luk-ying, 37, was in serious condition and Tang Mei-wah, 37 was stable.
