Microsoft OutWars For PC CD-ROMs Imagine swarms of aliens ripping through the galaxy. Your outposts have fallen and your drop zone is now the front line.

  Strap on your jet-pack and choose from a lethal array of weaponry.

  You and your squad are all that is left standing between Earth and the savage Skull hordes.

  In OutWars , Microsoft's latest action game, the player leads space troopers against an alien insect force in a planet-by-planet battle to save the universe.

  In each mission, you as the player must run, swim, and navigate a glider over vast, vertical environments in a life-or-death struggle.

 Novices will find this game difficult and only those with good combat skills will take it in their stride.

 Hostile environments, such as a tropical jungle, a forbidden ice planet and a planet-sized hive with tricky gravity traps add to the challenge.

 Inevitably, OutWars offers unique gameplay strategy. You have to consider various strategy options. For example, is there enough fuel to make it out of an underground cave?   You also need to decide whether it would be better to rush the alien insect force with the whole team, or send someone ahead to outflank them.

  Moreover, is the enemy running away because it is afraid, or is it preparing an ambush?  To win the game, the player is required to be fully-equipped with a deadly arsenal of weapons, including flame-throwers, mines and heat-seeking swarm missiles to fight these fierce adversaries.

  OutWars offers single- and multi- player support, with the single-player game being more plot-oriented.

  To help develop the story, the player is given a mission briefing outlining the objective prior to embarking on each level.

  On the multi-player side, you can team up troopers from a choice of co- operative, capture-the-flag, and death- match modes of play, or engage in furious competition with up to eight other warriors over a local area network or the Internet.

  The game allows the player to switch between viewing modes and employs all the latest gaming technologies, including MMX, Direct 3D, Internet play and force feedback devices.

  The game incorporates up-to-standard 3-D graphics and stunning terrain effects that help draw your full attention to the intense action in order to ward off your enemies.

  OutWars runs well on some 4 MB 3D accelerator cards but not all of them. It works best with the 3Dfx, Rendition, and Permedia chipsets. You can enable hardware acceleration support on the Options Graphics menu.

  You need to have a PC running Windows 95 or Windows NT operating system, in addition to a minimum of 2X CD-ROM drive.

  MEGAHINT: When you are on the planet Anubis, make sure you enter the room cautiously ahead of the team and look to your right. Destroy the bugs and pause the music.

  MEGAHINT: Approach the large airshaft carefully before jumping in, using your jet-pack to land.
