A beer company trade union leader has been sentenced to death for killing a woman and injuring a worker in a car crash while driving over the legal limit.
Zhao Xiangjie, chairman of the union at the Golden Lion Beer Company in Zhuzhou, Hunan province, left a hotel in the city in a company Audi after getting drunk at a dinner, China Youth Daily reported.
His car spun out of control at a junction, hitting a worker's vehicle, leaving the driver seriously injured.
Instead of stopping, Zhao drove on and struck a woman riding a bicycle, throwing her across the road and killing her instantly.
Zhao hit two more vehicles before going back to the hotel for a massage.
When police arrested him he was so drunk he did not know what he had done, the Intermediate People's Court in Zhuzhou was told.
