An exhibition of teaching material projects from eight primary schools working within the Target Oriented Curriculum (TOC) went on display. With the help of the TOC Development Unit, the schools had designed materials for teaching Chinese, mathematics and English.
The curriculum aims to develop students' ability to gather and use information and solve problems.
It also teaches them to analyse situations and work on inter-personal skills and creative thinking.
Lui Ki-cheung, senior inspector of mathematics of the unit, said the new curriculum would help improve teaching.
'All the projects were related to daily-life experiences, which made problems much easier to solve.' He said they were designed to show how a solution could be reached through reasoning and group discussion.
Inspector of Chinese, Li Shuk-yee, said the exhibition emphasised listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
