Sing Tao, controlled by Sally Aw Sian, said last night it was in preliminary discussions with all parties.
The company said it was keen to sell less than 35 per cent of Culturecom, which might not result in a general offer being made for the rest of its shares.
News of the negotiations came a week after it was disclosed that Ms Aw was in renewed talks to sell her 50.04 per cent interest in Sing Tao.
Culturecom owns Chinese-language flagship Tin Tin Daily and publishes Japanese comic books.
