Lawsuit over custody death

The family of a suspect shot dead in police custody has launched a damages action against the Government.

Ho Wai-fong, the intended administrator of victim Chan Kwok-keung's estate, is seeking damages for the alleged assault, battery, or wrongful act of the policeman accused of being responsible.

The action is brought on behalf of the victim's dependants and the estate.

In separate proceedings, Constable Yau Chun-sing, 27, has been charged with the murder of Chan, 24, at Aberdeen Police Station on November 1.
