Flight attendants with Cathay Pacific Airways may soon be ditching their Western-style uniform for a more Asian look.
A spokesman for the airline said it was thinking of revamping their outfits and would test some Asian styles soon.
A company insider said they were considering two or three styles, including a long and a shorter version of the cheongsam.
He said: 'At the moment the uniform is Western but they are thinking of changing the look to be more Asian.' The Cathay Pacific spokesman said they would try out the new uniforms by modelling them on their staff but would not reveal any more information. The airline last revamped the uniforms in 1990 when their ground staff and cabin crew were decked out in their current uniforms made by the Nina Ricci design team in Hong Kong.
Cathay's outfits maintained a mainly red and blue theme but staff rank was colour-coded, red for junior staff, blue for supervisory grades.
