Celestial Asia Securities, the cashed-up brokerage born from CCT Telecom's rescue of Cheerful Securities in mid-February, is planning to become one of the first integrated broking companies in Hong Kong to offer Internet services.

Celestial managing director Ken Khoo Ken-wee said the company had already set up an in-house version, and he said the system was ready to be rolled out on the Internet, subject to stock exchange approval.

Mr Khoo said he hoped to have Internet access in place before the end of the year.

Celestial would target young professionals and hoped to attract several hundred subscribers to the Internet service, he said. A selling point is added transparency.

'People will be able to see what is in their accounts,' he said.

Presently, investors can communicate over the Internet only with their broker, who executes the trade.
