The walkway from the ferry pier to Yung Shue Wan Main Street on Lamma Island takes quite a pounding each day from pedestrians and motorised delivery vehicles.
To the best of my knowledge, this strip of land has not been repaved or maintained for close to 10 years.
Scarred by a string of widening cracks and mini potholes, the walkway is a disaster zone during wet weather and tropical storm/typhoon alerts. While it is not about to subside yet, the Regional Council might consider taking pre-emptive remedial action before it is hit by a crisis.
While the council is about it, here is another suggestion: it might consider installing a dividing rail (temporary/portable) to separate incoming and outgoing ferry passengers. This will prove most welcome during weekends when mums/minders with baby prams and residents with overflowing shopping trolleys jockey for space on this narrow walkway.
Asia's Finest could also contribute their share with a bit more visible police presence at the pier and walkway when ferries arrive and depart. This, no doubt, will help to restore some semblance of lane discipline/order when crowds of day-trippers from the city disgorge themselves in their hundreds on Sundays and public holidays.
