Girls will be girls, and boys will wear dresses, stilettos and make-up.

With all the pout, glamour and curves of the real thing, Thai transvestite cabaret act The Tiffany Show returned yesterday for a month of well-heeled performances.

Rehearsing for their first show on Monday night at Bar City, the 14 'ladies' said bad economic times at home and enthusiastic Hong Kong audiences had brought them here for a second time.

A lack of air-conditioning at the lunchtime practice had fringed foreheads sweating and mascara running at the New World Centre bar in Tsim Sha Tsui.

The girls worked their way through full-costume routines of their traditional Thai dances, Western pop star impersonations and comedy sketches.

Troupe leader Jenny Chaiya said the girls were especially fond of performing in Hong Kong because the audiences were very friendly.
