Legislators can ask questions about airport chaos
1-MIN READ1-MIN
Legislative Council president Rita Fan Hsu Lai-tai yesterday ruled that legislators could ask questions about the Chek Lap Kok chaos.
Her decision came after Mr Justice Woo Kwok-hing, who heads the independent commission into the fiasco, said witnesses could be prejudiced by continued comment on the issue.
Legislator James To Kun-sun challenged the legality of the Government's reasons for not answering questions on the airport. He said the Legco Power and Privileges Ordinance empowered legislators to discuss any issue.

Secretary for Economic Services Stephen Ip Shu-kwan declined to say whether the computer system had been sufficiently tested or comment on whether the Airport Authority or Airport Steering Committee was negligent.
