The Hong Kong Government has now donated HK$6 million to the relief effort. Its Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee, which is chaired by Chief Secretary for Administration Anson Chan Fang On-sang, approved a $3 million grant yesterday to the Hong Kong Red Cross. The money will be spent on providing emergency aid to flood victims in Jiangxi, Hunan and Hubei provinces. The committee had already approved a $3 million grant to World Vision Hong Kong for relief work. To ensure that the money is used for its designated purpose, the Government has asked Red Cross officials to submit an evaluation report and audited accounts on the use of the grant once their project is complete.
