Back in 1976, I was involved in a project to build a racecourse in a country in the Middle East.
The company had the foresight to house its sophisticated computer in a trailer on wheels.
The computer was therefore protected from shock, dust, heat (the trailer was air-conditioned), and static electricity. All it needed was power outlets. As soon as it was plugged in, the computer was ready for tests and trials.
This was delivered on-site several months before construction work on the grandstand and racetrack was completed. There was ample time to test and try the system to ensure its readiness for the grand opening.
If Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (HACTL) had shown such foresight, maybe things would not have been so bad with our SuperTerminal.
