SHORTLY after the release of his debut album, Eternal Lover , last October, energetic singer Justin Lee Ka-ming is coming up with a second album next month. The cover of the new album will feature a more mature Lee. Instead of posing with 800 green apples as he did for his first album, Lee is dressed in off-white, standing next to a white sports car. The singer hopes to attract a wider range of audiences with his new image. The new album, Being Myself Again , comprises 10 songs which are mostly local compositions. There is a good balance of fast and slow numbers. ''I have a lot of confidence in my new album. I like most of the songs, especially the theme song,'' Lee said. The song ''Being Myself Again'', a cover version of a Spanish dance beat, has already been on the radio. Lee is also fond of ''If I Were To Pick Up the Phone'', a cover version of a Taiwanese song. The 21-year-old singer is not only attracted to the song's melody but also the beautiful lyrics written by Poon Yuen-leung. ''Taiwanese songs are gaining popularity in Hongkong because the melodies are easy to pick up and the lyrics are usually well-written,'' Lee said. After he graduated from Ng Wah College in 1990, Lee entered showbusiness under the encouragement of his singing teacher Ruth Chen. He signed up with Cinepoly Records in July last year and produced his debut record soon after. ''I was happy with the response to my album. I got a lot of positive feedback and helpful criticisms,'' the singer said. It is generally difficult for a newcomer's work to top the pop charts, but Lee did it with the song ''Eternal Lovers''. He hopes he will see the same results with his new album. At the moment, Lee spends most of his time on singing, but he does not rule out the possibility of acting. ''As you become more popular, you get more exposure and you should seek more alternatives,'' Lee explained. He said he would keep practising to improve his singing and stage performance.
