DISCOVERY Bay Transportation Services (DBTS) has brought a monohull, water-jet vessel, costing $23 million, into service between Discovery Bay and Blake Pier, Central.
Mr Eric Chu, senior transport manager (planning) of DBTS, said the new vessel - Discovery Bay 22 - was the same model as Discovery Bay 21 which came into service last June.
''Both water-jets were built in Singapore at a cost of $23 million each with a capacity of 300 passengers,'' he said.
Equipped with an advanced radar system, the water-jet ensures a fast and safe trip, taking between 22 and 25 minutes to travel between Central and Discovery Bay, he added.
DBTS now operates 20 vessels, which provide more than 128 sailings daily on a round-the-clock basis, carrying more than 400,000 passengers a month.
