In the report headlined, 'Triads 'do same work as bouncers' ' (South China Morning Post, August 5), Daniel Marash SC asserts that triads do the same work as bouncers and that all nightclubs are triad controlled.
While I cannot speak for other establishments, let me assure Mr Marash that Joe Bananas has never, does not now, and, with the help of the Hong Kong Police Force, will never give in to intimidation and corruption by triads. That Mr Marash deems a paid employee whose duties are to enforce a dress code and door policy to be on a par with thugs who threaten and intimidate speaks for itself. Daniel Marash does a disservice to the law-abiding businesses in Wan Chai and to the Wan Chai police who strive so hard to help us remain so.
