A night on the tiles in the capital of chic

What do a movie star, a tai-tai and a glamour-puss do when they meet up in Paris? Well, apart from shopping, they go out for a night on the tiles of course! Bond girl Michelle Yeoh, tai-tai Reina Chau and Chanel's external relations director Bonnie Gokson all met up in the City of Lights a few weeks ago for the Chanel haute couture show at the fashion house's premises in the Rue Cambon.

Whether the ladies bought any couture remains to be seen. We'll only know when the temperature drops and the ball season begins.

But, according to Reina, the collection was very wearable with a much younger silhouette.

'The evening wear was gorgeous and the colours were very subdued with a little pastel,' she said. 'There were lots of boxy jackets with pleated skirts and some elements of streetwear thrown in.' The look was apparently futuristic and minimalist with a Zen theme, with many models appearing without make-up.

After the show, which was given a well-manicured thumbs-up by the well-heeled customers, the three friends went out for dinner at the trendy Moroccan restaurant, Le Casbah.

Apart from discussing the collection, the trio swapped news about one another.

The most newsworthy item was that Michelle is engaged.

She later took the opportunity to introduce her fiance, Baltimore cardiologist Dr Alan Heldman to Reina and Bonnie.

Michelle met the good doctor after being introduced to one another by Barbara Broccoli, the producer of the James Bond films because he was her father's (Albert 'Cubby' Broccoli) doctor before his death in 1996.

The couple's first date was at the premiere of the Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies.

Michelle, however, was keeping mum as to when and where the big day would be.
