The Zhuhai International Circuit may link up with Macau to stage a Formula Three race in late November, giving drivers a second chance to test their skills in the region.
Joe Lim, director of Zhuhai International Circuit Management, said the circuit was exploring the possibility of staging a Formula Three race to tie up with the Macau Grand Prix, which will be held over the weekend of November 21-22.
'At the moment, nothing has been finalised yet. We're trying to work out the costs and to see whether it is viable.
'We're also trying to find sponsors for the race. We will make a decision within the next week on whether or not we will go ahead with our plans,' he said.
The purpose-built Zhuhai circuit is bidding to acquire Formula One status next year and Formula Three racing in the Chinese coastal city will provide ideal testing conditions as a precursor to Formula One racing.
Lim said staging Formula Three racing in Zhuhai would be a boost for the city.
He said dates for the Zhuhai race would be held close to the Macau race because of the short travelling distance.
