Accompanied by family and friends, thousands flocked to Kowloon Park for a fun- filled day, trying their hand - or foot - at new sports. Organised by the Provisional Urban Council, the day was the first event of this year's Come and Try Sport Scheme. The scheme comprises a series of training courses, demonstrations and fun days, which will be held until March next year at different locations, with free admissions. Now in its fourth year, the event featured trick cycling, skipping, indoor bowling, orienteering and in-line roller skating. Provisional Urban Councillor Albert Lai Wing-lin officiated at the opening ceremony. The fun day was held to encourage the public to enjoy some healthy exercise, he said. 'Aimed at promoting the council's Sport-for-All concept, the scheme was launched to encourage members of the public to come and try new sports, and enjoy the fun of these activities,' Mr Lai said.
