Group defends VCD industry

A mainland industry grouping in Shanghai has warned foreign companies against imposing their standards on the video compact disc (VCD) industry. Xinhua quoted Jin Honglong, deputy secretary-general of the China Electronic Audio Industry, as saying foreign firms were trying to apply their standards for digital-disc products and interfering with Chinese sovereignty.
