A youth basketball competition featuring 16 teams of eight players will be held during the Vittel SuperJam Youth Championship later this month. The organisers are now looking to recruit confident, energetic players between the ages of 14 and 19. Those interested can also register for the Vittel SuperJam Superstars Basketball Clinic, in which basketball fans aged eight to 18 will receive professional training from top players. Its aim is to promote the sport among the public, with the emphasis being on participation. The clinic will be conducted by professional coaches Bill Klucas and Howard Spencer, as well as Regal's Yung Kam-wah, one of Hong Kong's favourite professional players. Former NBA and Asian basketball stars such as Alex English, Spud Webb, Michael Cooper and George Karl will make guest appearances at the clinic. 'Although students get good training at schools, this clinic, with all these experienced players and coaches as trainers, will provide some insight and valuable advice for the young players,' said Steven Feuerstein, president of Sports International. Those interested in applying can now register by submitting 20 labels from Vittel Natural Mineral Water with a registration form to Sports International at Unit 301, The Centre Mark, 287-299 Queen's Road, Central, before August 20.
