THE Textile Institute is to hold its world conference in Hongkong from May 25 to 27. The institute has members in more than 100 countries and they include top executives, marketing specialists, designers, technicians and scientists in the clothing and textile industries. Mr Kayser Sung, chairman of the institute's Hongkong chapter, said Asia was the clothing world's number one continent for strategic alliances, joint ventures, licensing agreements and sourcing contracts. He said opportunities for such two-way traffic in other areas of textiles were increasing even faster than the region's record of spectacular growth. Mr Sung, who is also the publisher and editor of Textile Asia, said the conference would advise delegates on how to succeed in joint ventures and how to tackle the challenges that might arise.
