Police are stepping up their hunt for a second paedophile sex attacker after the arrest of a man allegedly operating in the same area. Extra patrols are being mounted and television appeals screened after a series of attacks on boys and girls aged between eight and 14. A man, 39, has been charged with indecent assault on a girl, 10, and will appear in San Po Kong Court today. He is alleged to have attacked the girl in King's Road, Shau Kei Wan, on the night of July 27. A total of four boys and four girls have been attacked in North Point, Chai Wan and Shau Kei Wan over the past two months. Investigators are now hunting a second molester believed to be responsible for attacks against two boys, aged eight and nine. The attacks took place at the junction of Java Road and Kam Hong Street, and in Marble Road. The same man is believed to be responsible for a third attack on a girl, 14, in City Garden. All the attacks took place in June and July. The man is described as being 1.76 metres tall, aged between 20 and 30 and of medium build. A spokesman said yesterday officers in the Eastern district, the New Territories and Kowloon West had shared information in an effort to widen the net against the culprit or culprits. In the most recent cases, a girl, 12, was molested in Sha Tin last Monday by a man armed with a knife and a girl, 10, fought off an attack outside her Mongkok home. It is not clear if the new cases are related to the June and July attacks on Hong Kong Island.
