CHINA'S leading newspaper has criticised empty talk in the drive for action to ward off an agricultural development crisis.
The People's Daily said in an editorial yesterday that the prime task for the development of agriculture was putting the policies for the countryside into practice.
It said merely talking about how significant development in the countryside would not help.
Party committees and governments at all levels should grasp firmly the task of fully implementing the party's central policies on agricultural development, the paper said.
The party and the Government were determined to try their best to avoid a downturn in agricultural development.
The enthusiasm of farmers must be preserved and their lawful rights protected in order to lift the growth of agricultural development into a new stage.
