A thief swallowed a stolen gold bracelet to avoid being caught red-handed. Chan Yuk-man, 30, was kept in police custody for three days until the evidence emerged on July 14, Eastern Court was told yesterday. 'This is a planned plot as you committed two offences on the same day. You did them out of more than just greed,' Magistrate Robert Pang Yiu-hung said. Unemployed Chan stole a $1,300 gold bracelet from Luk Fook Jewellery in North Point on July 11 and a $1,500 gold bracelet from nearby Tse Sui Lun Jewellery, which she gulped down just before being arrested. Chan, who has six previous convictions, admitted two theft charges and was jailed for six months.
