Three child care courses run by Lee Wai Lee Technical Institute have received dual recognition.
'Graduates of these courses are recognised as Registered Child Care Workers and Qualified Kindergarten Teachers by the Education Department and the Social Welfare Department,' a spokesman for the Vocational Training Council said. The General Studies Department of the institute began offering child-care education in 1980. The training it provides has long been recognised by the Social Welfare Department, with the Education Department giving its seal of approval last year.
The one-year courses are the full-time Certificate in Child Care, part-time day-release Certificate in Child Care and part-time day-release Certificate in Basic Child Care Work.
Altogether, the institute offers four courses with 360 places for those who wish to become child-care workers or kindergarten teachers.
