The part-time policeman who returned fire at a gunman in Tsuen Wan on Tuesday will receive psychological counselling.

After the shooting on Castle Peak Road, Sergeant Chau Yuk-sheung, 50, grappled with the gunman and injured his right elbow and forearm. The gunman escaped.

Police Commissioner Eddie Hui Ki-on visited Sergeant Chau in Yan Chai Hospital yesterday. It is understood the officer was in shock on arrival.

Asked if firearm training for auxiliary officers was sufficient, Mr Hui said: 'Training in shooting for auxiliary and regular officers is the same. We believe the training we are giving them is sufficient.'
