Blackmail case moved

Three men charged with a $15 million blackmail plot against a property developer had their case transferred to District Court yesterday.

Wong Keung-yiu, 32, a driver, Yip Chi-wai, 36, a taxi driver, and Yan Ming-fong, 32, a cook, appeared at Eastern Court.

All three were denied bail and remanded in police custody.

The Organised Crime Triad Bureau arrested the trio on August 14.

They allegedly made repeated phone calls to Sun Hung Kai Properties managers between August 10 and 14.

Magistrate Garry Tallentire adjourned the case until September 11 to allow further police inquiries.
