U-Freight Malaysia has opened a bonded air-freight facility at Kuala Lumpur's recently commissioned international airport. It has leased 3,600 sq ft at the terminal - which is divided evenly between offices and warehouse space - from Malaysian Airlines. 'This new facility gives U-Freight Malaysia the means of meeting its customers needs not only now when the economy has suffered a downturn but in the future when it has recovered and growth is the order of the day again,' air-freight operations manager Miang Huak Koh said. From its new base, U-Freight offers a range of value-added services such as door-to-door and airport-to-airport distribution options, and customs brokerage. U-Freight Malaysia - a subsidiary of the global U-Freight logistics services group - has invested M$400,000 (about HK$731,959) in the airport's new cargo village, a totally customs-bonded area. It plans to expand its facility when market conditions improve.
