The Association for Democracy and People's Livelihood has adopted a new party line. Party secretary-general Bruce Liu Sing-lee, opening his Ma Tau Wai office with chairman Frederick Fung Kin-kee, said the party would take a full part in next year's district board elections. Mr Liu said the long-time slogan of 'negotiating while confronting' the authorities would be dropped. 'That doesn't mean we've changed our stance, but in our election evaluations, we find the slogan can be easily distorted,' he said. The slogan, used by the party since the early 1990s, was mostly applied to its stance towards Beijing. Although Mr Fung has denied the party's stance led to its defeat in the Legco election, Mr Liu said they hoped to use more positive words when packaging their image. The new slogan is 'distinguishing right and wrong and fighting with reason'.
