Sponsorship target is too steep

SOME people have gone on organised 30-hour fasts in Hongkong, as one way to raise money to help the starving people of Third World countries.

I felt this was a meaningful way to help and decided to take part in a fast earlier this year.

However, I was told that each participant should raise $1,000 in sponsorship before joining the fast. I think students will find this too difficult to achieve. Most of my friends cannot raise this sum of money, therefore we cannot join the fast.

I hope organisations planning these fasts in future, will lower the limit for students, so we can take part in this very important form of fund-raising.
