FROM April 5, the fare on KMB's No 273 from Wah Ming Estate to Fanling KCR Station was raised from $1.80 to $2.20.

  This represents an increase of 22 per cent and is twice the rate of inflation.

  This particular bus journey only takes about five minutes and I do not understand what reason can be given for so substantial an increase.

  I hope a KMB spokesman can provide me with an adequate explanation.

  I'm sure other Wah Ming Estate residents would also like to know why the fare rise is so high.
