Error over expenses

Three Democratic Party members used the wrong form to declare Legislative Council election expenses.

Party legislator Fred Li Wah-ming admitted that he, Szeto Wah and Mak Hoi-wah, used the wrong form to declare their expenses. The deadline for declarations was June 26.

The three ran for the Kowloon East constituency.

Mr Li said they only realised the mistake after the deadline had expired.

At the suggestion of the Electoral Affairs Commission, they had applied to the Court of First Instance for an order to resubmit their declarations.

Mr Li stressed the mistake had been made through carelessness.
