A lift robber who terrorised his victims at knifepoint was jailed yesterday for six years and four months. Unemployed Ng Chi-man, 47, menaced five people in a residential building in Queen's Road West. Prosecutor Hayson Tse Ka-shu told the District Court that between February and May, Ng had followed three women, a man and an 11-year-old girl into a lift. Ng, who admitted three charges of robbery, stole $850, four rings and a necklace. He was arrested on June 3. Judge Richard Davies said Ng had been in and out of jail for more than 20 years. Defence lawyer Edward Chan Man-hon said Ng had been driven to crime because he had been jobless since leaving jail in January.
