An export firm was yesterday fined $485,000 for giving false information in export licence applications. Weffin International Limited misled the Trade Department over more than 12,000 woven anoraks and parkas, worth $2.1 million, which were being shipped to Spain, Kwun Tong Court heard. In six export licence applications between June and July last year the company said the goods were made by a local manufacturer. But a probe by Customs and Excise Department officers revealed the goods were made by a mainland factory. The company enlisted a local firm to pose as the manufacturers, the court heard.
