A speeding bus destroyed a watchman's life and forced him to move into care, a writ says. Chan Woon-kin, 59, is suing driver Cheung Ying-cheung and his employers, the Kowloon Motor Bus Company, for unspecified damages. The watchman was crossing Sheung On Street near the Chai Wan fire station on March 2 last year when the bus hit him. He was taken to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital with head injuries and remained in hospital until June 8 last year. 'Thereafter, he was admitted into various homes for the elderly for better care and management,' according to the High Court writ filed yesterday. His arms and legs are still weak and numb, he uses a walking frame to travel short distances and he needs a wheelchair to go outdoors, it says. Mr Chan claims he is plagued by muscle cramps and headaches and has been unable to resume work since the accident. Mr Cheung was convicted of careless driving in Western Court last August.
