The Hong Kong Government has given the local World Vision branch a further $4 million to help flood victims in Hubei and Jiangxi. World Vision spokeswoman Agnes Hui said the money would pay for food, medicine and temporary shelter for about 150,000 flood victims in the two provinces. She said that once waters had receded, the charity group would carry out rehabilitation work and introduce improved flood prevention measures. It would be using donations from other sources to fund that work. 'We plan to distribute seeds to farmers who lost their harvest and help solve the schooling problem,' Ms Hui said. 'We have already been doing this sort of work in Guangxi and Sichuan provinces, where waters receded earlier.' World Vision had appealed for $10 million from the Government, following a $3 million gift from the SAR in July.
