I refer to the letters from John Gabriel, Simon McCrum and Alan Archer (South China Morning Post, August 25, 28 and September 2 respectively), regarding Cathay Pacific's decision to modify lounge access rules for its Marco Polo Gold Card members. Let me first thank these correspondents for voicing their views about the changes. We are always pleased to receive feedback concerning the products and services we have on offer, and take comments from all our members very seriously. The changes were undertaken following a review of the lounge access policies offered by other airlines and a series of consultations with our lounge users. We recognise that there will be some members who will be disappointed - for this we sincerely apologise. We will be making major enhancements to our services later this year with the launch of our new frequent-flyer programme, which will include special rewards to our most loyal customers. Let me assure all your readers that Cathay Pacific remains fully committed to offering our customers a superior package of product and service benefits. We look forward to welcoming our Marco Polo Club members and first- and business-class passengers to our new lounges when they open later this month. The lounges will offer a new level of comfort and improved business facilities. If any of the correspondents, or other readers, have further questions about the Marco Polo Club or our new airport lounges, please do not hesitate to contact me care of Cathay Pacific.
